Videonystagmography (VNG) is used to evaluate patients with dizziness, vertigo, or balance dysfunction. This test allows us to assess the connection between the inner ear and eye movements through a reflex called the vestibulo-ocular reflex, providing an objective assessment of the oculomotor and vestibular systems. This test consists of three parts and requires the use of goggles to track and record eye movement: oculomotor evaluation, positioning/positional testing, and caloric stimulation of the vestibular system. Data obtained from this process allows us to determine potential causes of symptoms for patients allowing for improved referral and/or treatment of symptoms.
